Ski Jump Side Trip...

Impossible to be in Lake Placid and not see these jumps...

I had to go because my parents had been there ages ago and I wanted to recreate the picture that they took.

Did not get to stand in the same exact spot but got some fantastic pictures!

Luckily there were no injuries!! We passed it shortly after it had started and it kept rekindling through the night...a huge fire on the even of the race in downtown Lake Placid.

When you walk out of your condo and see this.... 

When you get to the top of the ski jump and see this... 

It creates new climbing goals....need to get in gear and finish the Catskills!

The energy at the finish line was just electric.  It was one big dance party with loads of cheering for every one that was coming into the chute!!

Sim/Bike/Run!!!

Such an incredible experience - very happy that I had the opportunity to be a part of this day!!  I really enjoyed cheering on new friends and complete strangers as they worked toward the finish line!

Had time to get creative with the sign for Saturday's porch bar before I discovered the leak behind the actual bar.  (The two volunteers that fixed the leak got to drink for free and were lauded as heroes for the rest of the evening.)

Lobster Fest!

Our annual tradition keeps going up a notch every year.... 

This year the decorations took a turn and we played some very fun gamnes of croquet. Unfortunately the furball was not happy with the game and I spent the majority of it playing one handed and keeping her in the other arm. (Tough to bark at things when your legs are off the ground!) 

And we had a visit from the flying shrimp!!

Dialogue that is still amusing me months later....

Louis Zamperini: NOW you're praying?
Phil: I was busy before.
Louis Zamperini: My mother does that sometimes.
Phil: Yeah... a lot of people do this.
Louis Zamperini: He say anything back?
Phil: Yeah.
Louis Zamperini: What?
Phil: He says my bombardier's a dope.
Louis Zamperini: ...Really? 

Slightly biased because of the actor that played Phil but the delivery of the line was perfect!



 

Greystone's Facade...

It hurts to see the Kirkbride's facade marred like this....kills any hope of preserving the main core of Greystone.

Expenses....

It has been an expensive first half of the year!

In the past 6 months, there has been money spent on:

Trip to Ireland
Dog's teeth
Catalytic convertor for my car
Mole removal
New fridge
Mom's engine
New mattresses for the whole household
New haircolor for me
And now, the Blue Baron's catastrophic engine failure which results in purchase of new car.

Only thing that can be done to even it out for the second half of the year is to buy a house!!
