Swoonage...
And the fact that I swooned. That in-and-of-itself will always skew something more towards the positive.
I haven’t swooned the way that I did in what feels like ages (or maybe ever). One of the last ones that came close was a good 6 years ago – back when my tongue was pierced.
But then I just listen to the voice mails.....yeah.....the right choice was made....

Sidelined...
Sidelined by the flu this weekend - I had some fun plans, but they were changed to include soup, my fuzzy Berkshire blankie and alternating between my bed and the couch.
Ugh...

Untouched?
The chorus to “Untouched” by The Veronicas
I feel so untouched
And I want you so much
That I just can't resist you
It's not enough to say that I miss you
I feel so untouched right now
Need you so much somehow
I can't forget you
Been going crazy from the moment I met you
Harmony....
Pony? Check.
Impromptu Uconn cheer? Check.
Singers razzing drummers? Check.
Drummers who turn around and dish it right back at the singers? Check.
White sneaker retirement? Check
Hoofing it back to the bar to share our joy at the white sneaker retirement? Double Check.
I was so happy to be with friends and be able to bounce around a bit. Plus being reunited with Pony helped.
I definitely missed seeing Instrument play live. It’s part of my being – I like live music. I like mash ups – I like it when the band changes things in the songs. I love the fact that certain guitar harmonies give me goosebumps.
Live music just has a different feel to it - I prefer the acoustic version of “Letter”. Even though I got a shout out/busted for singing along during “Invincible”, I could not keep the smile off of my face.
And my own personal ray of sunshine got a big dose of the truth early this morning. Some things that I had been avoiding saying because I knew that they would hurt. The chat ended with “Anyone who stifles you should die, you don’t need any more friends.” Ironic that the person that was the last exception to that statement ended up being one of my best friends.
Just as I needed my friends last night, I also needed that chat.

C'est La Vie....
But when your behavior is pure Jeckyl & Hyde and I start to fear for my safety, then it’s done. (it took me 24 hours longer than my friends to start to be scared)
It was fun while the good part of it lasted...oh well...

Invited?
On occasion, I need that little bit extra - to actually be "formally" invited somewhere.
It seems silly, especially since I know that in most situations:A. That I'm welcome to go
B. It's a long standing open invite
C. I'm expected to be there
But sometimes, I just need that nudge. Nothing fancy or engraved, just a "Hey, you wanna come?"
Growing Pains...
Sometimes you misjudge things and/or don't realize that what you are doing could be interpreted a certain way.
Sometimes the new friends behave in ways that you would not expect. But then again, you do not know them as well either.
We’ll see what happens...

“We Bet on a Dog!!”
Ended up betting on a dog race – I was told to pick a name from the wall – any name…..yeah, had no clue that the dog races were up there too.
It was worth it – definitely had my eyes opened about some things and gives me more to think about in this situation.
The one thing that I really didn’t like was apologizing for being myself – however I forgot that the person that I was with has never experienced the full force of nature that I can be.
With that being said, there is a wall up, but certain things did break it down a bit this morning.

Dreary Day....
Here comes the rain again
Falling on my head like a memory
Falling on my head like a new emotion…
Feeling a bit sad that I am not geographically closer to my parents when they need me.
Mom – mainly for the emotional support. I did visit grandma and understand more why mom has been leaning on me so much lately. She needed the weekend’s festivities not only as a distraction, but to get her back among the world of the living. My brother and I are planning a get together with family friends so that she has something else to look forward to. (it’s a trek to PA, but will be very well worth it – they are good people)
Dad – it is always a bad sign when everyone comes up to you and says “You dad looks like shit, what’s wrong with him?” Oh, just the usual stubbornness of not going to the doctor when he really needs to, self-diagnosing and then attempting to fix the problem himself. He’s in pain and it is affecting other aspects of his life. I have been kind, I have been subtle, I have clobbered him with the truth and I have been blunt. BUT nothing will change until he decides to do it himself.

Ligo!!
There are certain summer holidays that should never be missed – especially if you are Latvian. The equinox celebration consists of running around outdoors (sometimes in the rain), encouraging people to jump over a bonfire, hanging with friends – both old and new – some that you only see once a year but wish you saw more, singing folk songs, drinking with your parent’s friends and getting home really, really, really (like 5 am) late.I kept calling it the A.D.D. holiday – “I’ll just go to the car and grab the food” turned into – take three steps outside of the hall and bump into someone, chat for 10 minutes, get halfway to the car and bump into someone else, chat for another 10 minutes, get to the car, chat with someone else that is driving in, grab the food, get back to the hall and chat with somebody else and the finally get back to the hall and realize that you have been gone for 45 minutes.
In a huge departure from the norm, I did not take many pictures – I’m sure that the ones that people took will end up on FB at some point. Or I’ll just gently remind the people that took them to get me copies. (and by “gently remind”, I mean “withhold the outing to Thai Chef until I get the pix” – heh, heh)
My whole family was in attendance and at one point I was the beverage runner for the crew. I haven’t seen my brother for a while so it was fun to spend time with him. I didn’t get to see him jump the fire dressed in business casual attire, but yes, he cleared the fire - he always does.
Biggest laugh of the night for me – “I heard you before I saw you.” Ah, so very, very true. Want to take a guess as to how many times that was said?
Toughest part was waking up to head home today – “Maow” *raspberry* “Maow” *raspberry* “There’s bacon!” Ok, I’m up!!
The driving was too much yesterday – my energy just cut out. Thank you to my brother for driving being the back up driver!!!

"Long Black Veil"...
Ten years ago on a cold dark night,
Someone was killed 'neath the town hall lights.
There were few at the scene, but they all agreed,
That the slayer who ran looked a lot like me.
She walks these hills, in a long black veil.
She visits my grave, when the night winds wail.
Nobody knows, nobody sees,
Nobody knows, but me.
The Judge said son, what is your alibi,
If you were somewhere else, then you won't have to die.
I spoke not a word, though it meant my life,
For I'd been in the arms of my best friends wife.
She walks these hills, in a long black veil.
She visits my grave, when the night winds wail.
Nobody knows, nobody sees,
Nobody knows, but me.
Now the scaffold is high, and eternity's near.
She stood in the crowd, and shed not a tear.
But some times at night, when the cold wind moans
In a long black veil, she cries over my bones.
She walks these hills, in a long black veil.
When the cold winds blow, and the night winds wail.
Nobody knows, nobody sees.
Nobody knows, but me.
Little Room....
Well, I seem to have found room for some more. (especially ones that like marching bands)
And last night I was very pleased to discover that chivalry is not dead – not by a long shot. You just have to be around the right people.

Snip, Snip Here...
It’s done – I have gone through the pictures and scrapbooked the event that was causing the backlog. The day was not the problem – it was what happened shortly after it.
It’s done and I am proud of myself – it was about damn time that I sat down and did it!!

Poke, Poke, Beat!!
Poking dead horse....Beating a dead horse......Maybe if I try hard enough, it will get up and dance...
I am focusing on the happy stuff that is going on. Just because you are down does not mean that I have to be.
I like my happy right now, thank you. I will sympathize, but I will not wallow.
Ok, soapbox for the day is put away. Can You Describe the Ruckus?
This is not how I want to spend my time. So, I will either let it go, ignore it or give the blunt truth (especially when people are not being fair about things). Consider this fair warning for the last part - velvet glove - iron fist - *smack*
It is not my job/duty to keep the peace. I am exhausted from trying to.
Ah, I feel better now.....

Twitter Behavior...
10 Irrational Behaviors on Twitter that’d make you look crazy in Real Life
1. Write letters to inanimate objects or brands: “Dear 34 Bus, if you don’t show up in ten minutes, ’m going to consider hitch hiking as a permanent solution to transportation.”
2. Repeating a statement word for word that was just said minutes before.
3. Following someone even though they don’t want to talk to you.
4. Walking into a crowd on Friday morning and shouting out the names of eight best friends.
5. Quietly handing someone a note that is asking them to join your Spymaster league.
6. Proving someone wrong in a debate by referring to statement they made exactly twenty-four days ago at 3:30pm CST.
7. Carrying a rubber stamp in your pocket and slamming the word “FAIL” on everything you don’t like.
8. Jumping out of an alley and responding to a question that someone asked someone else.
9. Taking real words and melding them together cleverly while NOT being a rapper.
10. Having 100,000 people walking behind you and you’re NOT the Verizon guy.

Mick Vs. The Jonas....
So, there’s a Mick Jagger vs. Jonas Brothers rant….really?
There is no comparison – need I remind everyone of the blatant song titles?!??!
“I Just Wanna Make Love to You” (Beatles were hand holders) and “Let’s Spend the Night Together”…yes, the Stones were the bad boys.
Now the Jonas Boys do get away with stuff behind the “purity ring” guise (ala South Park’s episode) but to compare them to Mick Jagger?!?!? No contest darlings, no contest...
Mick is down and dirty – the Jonas Pups are not on his level in any way shape or form.

Even this picture – Mick and Anita Pallenberg during the filming of “Performance” – just look at it - there were major shenanigans on set!! And that is his best mate’s girl! (Keith Richards sat outside in his car and smoked while these two filmed….)
Umm, no Jonas boys would ever do something like that!

(T2 x 2) + (H x 3) = Fun!
A bunch of us went out to celebrate her birthday – dinner, drinks and some rock.
Dinner was at the East Side German restaurant - http://www.eastsiderestaurant.com/ if you want to check it out! We were greeted by a cutie in liederhosen, serenaded by accordion players and given silly hats to wear. It's impossible to not talk to the neighboring table - especially when one of the guys at it has a hot dog on his head – he handed it over to us when they left!
The entire restaurant participates when someone gets a beer – you can’t NOT cheer!! And if you get a boot, well, that’s a whole other cheer! It’s always a good time to just sit around laughing and enjoying the people that you are with! Even if they make you do a hand check when you are posing with the cutie in liederhosen……I am not a predator!!! (there is no little mouth that says "eh"!!)
The goal of the night was to continue the great vibe that we had going. And we did!
We didn't get to dance to our favorite DJ because he is off protecting the country, so we made do with All Crazy. I bumped into Skinny as we were walking in and got hugged because I said “Hey! It’s the electric violin player from All Crazy!” And then he bought our entire group a round of shots!
Soup came to get us to sign up for the mailing list and after teasing him about not having merch girls, I told him about Instrument. (could not resist, plus he seemed sincerely interested). So, we danced, got shout outs every two songs and Skinny even hooked us up with shirts and CD's! (Thank you!!)
It was a fun time and then we drove through the carnage that erupts onto the streets once the bars close. I’m very thankful that I was not driving…..
The night was not done though, we had to stop at a diner and continue the laughs. And by 3 am, we were low energy vampires *snicker* –

Hello, Morning!!
Instead, I stayed home with Jason Statham - specifically the Bank Job. (this brought up the debate of what kind of wine one serves with Jason Statham....I opted for red) And I got to bed really early for once - which explains why I’m wide awake at 9 am on a Saturday poaching eggs.
It is good to spend some time at home though - justifies paying rent - makes it more than just a place to keep all my stuff. *Yawn* I may need to nap before tonight’s festivities though….

WWTD?
Still need to get the venues in order though – I’m ready for another road trip. (have to fulfill my quota of hottie attorneys and the shenanigans that they bring)
The intent is not to clobber Instrument with the marketing ideas – just share what else can be done now. There are more ideas but the "iron fist in the velvet glove" only strikes once a day...

We all have our defense mechanisms....
