Soul Charmer....

I made a quick Happy Hour stop last night and received a hero’s greeting when I walked in the door.  Seriously whoah – there was no doubt that I have been missed.

After some chats, a very, very familiar song came on the radio – another throwback – “Nearly Lost You” by the Screaming Trees!  (of course it became a FB status)

Tie this in to “This Must Be the Place” by The Talking Heads and “Home” by David Byrne and Brian Eno being on repeat and I have been in a musical cocoon for the past week in an attempt to find my center in the craziness of my work days and current events.

It is definitely helping!

I'm Aching All Over...

I got a hangover and it's all because of you, making me crazy…

The song just gets better and better with age!

The long tangle of lyrics is something that stays with you - most of us can recite it in full.  Since I now have the song as an mp3, I was also able to fulfill a request that was made two decades ago.  Nothing like a bit of a throwback to my confirmation to get one dancing!

But I’m much too lazy to find me someone new, cause there nobody else who will do, who wouldn’t do the things that you do…

It started because a camp friend was looking for a copy of the album and he specifically tagged me and two others in the request.  It spurred a lengthy conversation about what is going on in the world today and how this album brought him reassurance during our country’s path to independence back in the 90’s.  They worked hard to make sure that they could join NATO and the EU.  My double citizenship would not have been possible if they were still an occupied country.

This big beast was only dormant – they have been scheming and plotting to get back to where they once were.  They just rolled over and let the world run without them?  Not a chance.

All of our small countries are vulnerable – there are too many troops being moved to the borders.   Plus, the big superpower is too far removed from a World War to combat the other countries that are gearing up to make it happen.

This peace is fragile.

You think it’s so funny to spend all my money and even keep the change, you what can I do now, I must get thru somehow, either that or become deranged…

Spinning Wonders...

I can’t bring myself to delete the season finale of American Horror Story – Coven.  Partially due to the Stevie Nicks “Seven Wonders” opening and partially due to it being a fantastic wrap up of the season.

It still blows my mind that this came out of the mind of a Glee writer.  Even more mind blowing is that I willingly watched the season of horror.  (reading the recaps the day after it aired and then watching the episode)

Sure, it seemed tamer than the first two seasons but still, there was guts and gore! And a Minotaur!!

Now that the Olympics are in full swing, I will have to delete it but I will definitely be watching that opening sequence on last time…

There’s no official video but there’s this is you want to take a look.

Another One...

Another trailer for Malficent!!  Safe to say that I will own this movie as soon as it comes out...

Funny thing is that it features one of my favorite Disney songs redone by Lana Del Rey!  Her "Young and Beautiful" has been randomly popping into my head since I re-watched the Great Gatsby.  (no, that's my towel! lol)

Yay or Nay?

The summer schedule is starting to get filled up already - wedding that involves emotional landmines in June, song festival in Canada in July and a week up at camp in August.

Added to that is the question for the summer - do I commit to climbing Mt. Katahdin again or wait a few years?  I have a friend that is climbing it and I am undecided about whether or not I should go along.

After we got back from the trip last July, I had a heart to heart with another friend about the trek.  His main point was to not live other people’s dreams.

The adventure may have started that way (coming along on a friend’s bucket list item) but now it stands as “unfinished business” for me.  My focus was getting to the top and flying my flag next to the sign up there.

Yes, there was a storm, a heat wave and rangers telling us we did the right thing by turning around.....BUT my pride was dented with not making it to the top.  I now have an opportunity to climb it again and I know that we will succeed.

So….to Katahdin or not to Katahdin?  That is the question!

Again....

These hearts adore
Everyone the other beats hardest for
Inside this place is warm
Outside it starts to pour

Coming down
One love, two mouths
One love, one house
No shirt, no blouse
Just us, you find out
Nothing that I wouldn't wanna tell you about...

Dream...

I had the strangest dream the other night...

You were hosting a "Big Little Christmas" party.
Your girlfriend was the one that I had suggested for you years ago.
Three piece suits were all around.
We danced a lot - body and conversation wise.
An ice cream truck drove into the restaurant as part of the festivities.

It was bizarre...

Life's Adventures...

Last night I dressed in a bear costume to present a gift at a retirement party...yup, you read that right.  Of course I hammed it up!

Not quite something that I had on my life checklist but I'm glad that I did it.

Turkey Lurkey

Thanksgiving Day was a whirlwind but it was worth it to spend time with the whole family.

Even taught the dog to play cards!!

Cue The Wood Jokes....

Amazing how a tree can grow for decades and then be reduced to a pile of chips in about 5 minutes….

I spent the weekend helping out with tree work. I am tired, bruised and sore but it was totally worth it! Bonus was spending time with great people and being disconnected from the rest of the world!!

The rain that we had Sunday did not help matters much but we soldiered on thru the elements and processed about 60 trees of all shapes and sizes when all was said and done.

Who knew that I could drag trees to a chipper for two long days and still be able to function the third day!?!?

Maleficent....

I am incredibly giddy about this movie....

Maleficent, the witch from Into the Woods and Cruella DeVil
