NJ Ren Faire!!

I headed South on Saturday and experienced the NJ Renaissance Faire for the first time. It is much smaller than my usual faire but it is full of heart!! No real lines for the food or bathroom was a bonus too.

The Day's End was a collection of the entire cast singing.  And as we left, they all lined the path to the gate and thanked us for coming.  It was like running the gauntlet of happy!!


Bonus - It was nice to see a few familiar faces from the NY Ren Faire!

"I'm Red!"

I had a vision and was excited when I was able to make it a reality - croquet in one of the wide open spaces on the property!!  Fantastic BBQ afterwards that helped bring the weekend to a close.

And for the Heathers fans - "Did you have a brain tumor for breakfast? First you ask if you can be red, knowing that I'm always red."

Why did Cali-phone ya? She phoned to say "Hawaii" ("How-ah-yee")

Where has Oregon? If you want Alaska (I'll-ask-a). She went to pay her Texas,

What did Mississip,boys through her pretty lips? She sipped a Minna-soda.

How did Wiscon-sin, boys? She stole a New-brass-key, Too bad that Arkan-saw, boys,

And so did Tenna-see!

So not relevant to my life right now but I am loving the haunting melody!!

Weekend Boom!

Tequila boom....a "logical" choice when NO driving will be involved for the rest of the weekend!  Side note - holey moley, I drank tequila again!!

It's so nice to just sit and be....too soon to head up to the other lake though.

Signs From Above?

View as I headed up the mountain Friday...it was good to see the light since a bunch of the hiking trails are closed due to a 60 acre brush fire.

The City So Nice....

They named it twice! Yeah, it's dirty and angry but the energy is infectious! 

I took my mom in for a show last week and we did a "Hey, life is short, let's eat in Rockefeller Center" lunch.

We saw the Rockettes Spring Spectacular....Oh the costumes, the sets, the dogs, the music, the precision, the epic love letter to NYC - it was incredible!!! 

Plus seeing the Rockettes iconic kick line on stage at Radio City Music Hall doing their thing to "New York, New York" brought us all to our feet.  

I had a moment when the "tour guide" on our stage trip through the city went to the top of the Empire State Building and was greeted by a vision of his deceased wife.....he started singing "Just the Way You Look Tonight" and then danced with her.  Cue the waterworks....it was just lovely.

Yup, this is mind set for the weekend...

Friday night featured quite a view...

Alliterating Sunday…

Suburban Sunday started with purchasing some smoke alarms and new mattresses.  Closets were cleaned, pumps were placed and flowers freshened.

Then it became Spontaneous Sunday by slipping into NYC to meet a faraway friend for candid conversation while sipping spring-like spirits…

Ex Machina Revisited...

Time to gush a bit – it cannot be contained because I am inspired!  

I knew that I would see Ex Machina because of the cast.   It turned out to be a fantastic movie with superb acting.  It will also have a special place in my heart because my first viewing was at the premiere in Dublin.  Plus meeting Domhnall after that Q & A just took it to another level. 

What I did not realize was that I would walk out of it finding a new writer that would fascinate me – Alex Garland.  After coming home, I realized how much of his work I have already seen in film. 

Besides his writing, he has a brilliant mind and I have been devouring the interviews (both international and local).  Even better was when he replied to me during a twitter Q & A – got to hear about what music inspires his writing.  (Bonus is that now I have new bands to listen to)

I’m looking forward to what he writes next but in the meantime, I have a few more books to read!!  (and go see Ex Machina a few more times)
