Just a Touch of Rain....

Trying to figure out how to sum up the weekend….it was just good – lots of fun despite the pouring rain.

Spending time with someone who wasn’t hell bent on watching every minute of the Ted Kennedy coverage – seriously, the shuttle launched and there was NO coverage, just the "Weekend at Bernie's" tour.

Being asked to stay – at two separate times. Not sick of me? “Hell no!” And I had full access to the inner sanctum – taken at face value, but nonetheless, it was the inner sanctum and it helped the bond.

“Isn’t it too early for that?” Sing-songy “Not for me!” was the reply. I have an interesting Saturday morning cartoon replacement!

Having the most bizarre and calm breakfast pattern – reading the paper – swapping sections over coffee while waiting for our food.

Hyde, meet Jeckyll…Jeckyll, meet Hyde – great, now that you two have met, quit it!!

Standing outside in the rain so I can hear the thundering hooves as they cross the finish line. And there was total shock that a horse that I bet on actually won!

Mis-pronouncing certain words -
Su-f**k vs. Su-folk

Why do we get along? Why do we both keep wanting to spend time together? (the amount of differences is ridiculous!)

Motivation...

How’s this for motivation?

Doing something that I enjoy while still making the same crappy salary that I am now...

It would make it much easier to get up in the morning....

Palm trees wouldn’t hurt either...

Leave my friends and family for an awesome job and start all over again?

Or

Stay in an area that does not offer what I want to do every day?

Seems much more logical when it’s written out, doesn't it?

P.O.D.?

We're all trying to figure life out - sometimes you have the most oddball things happen and there is no explanation for them.

Apparently I am the Princess of Darkness who hangs out with a prep. Makes for an amusing combo.

“I like you to death – anyone else telling me this would not get to hang out with me again.”

The blunt truth – “you’re my dream girl but you scare me but us meeting is serendipitous!!” - yes, all in one sentence....

There’s the incredible smooshy hugs……..and the swoon factor…..O.M.G. the swoon factor……that’s why I haven’t backed off yet. The swoon is NOT going away – it’s SUPPOSED to go away – noone can be that good.

It scares me and excites me at the same time. I know that this is not going to go far, so I am enjoying it while I can.

Slipping Away....

Your cover seems to have slipped even more – there is no denying that something is majorly wrong.

You can’t make a concrete decision from a menu - even ordering at Subway overwhelms you.

Simple household chores are just too much for you to handle - I have been doing all the same things for the past 10 years and working - it's never been "too much".

You refuse to go to the doctor to get help for the large physical ailments because of everything that could be involved to get you better. By doing nothing you are making it worse.

You can’t remember where we need to go when the attractions are in a circle.

We know that you have been covering. Every time we get together the veil slips more and more.

You refuse to help yourself. Yet it's a battle for us to help you as well.

We are trying to figure out how we can fix it. But that is part of the original problem – there's always someone around to fix it for you. You don’t ask for help, it just shows up when things are out of control because you surround yourself with people that will take charge.

It breaks my heart because you get so much joy from spending time with us but you are not going to be here for much longer if you keep this up.

Sadness, Anger and the rest of their emotional siblings are involved.

I will continue to watch to see what happens......and then jump in to help when I can....

Emotional Affairs...

This is where we are....where we have been.......and probably will be for life....give or take a few details....

The joke keeps getting bigger – you will slip one day and it will be amusing but rather explosive.

You asked the question and I answered truthfully - did you really think that the answer would be “no”? You can't expect me to sit idle.
I know what you wanted to hear, but I wasn't going to lie. (especially when you said “Tell me the truth”) You probably knew the truth anyway, but it makes it more definitive when I confirm it.

From Here to There...

Quite the full weekend – I had my five state tour – NY, NJ, RI, CT & MA. I did some spontaneous things as well as what was already planned. I am rather tired today, but I feel that it was all worth it.

New York Ren Faire:
* Ded Bob wants me to call him.
* Having the “My umbrella is bigger than yours” debate.
* Smooching pickle vendors – “Give her tongue!!” (so sorry – I didn’t realize that he would actually do it!!!!)
* Shy three year old pirates that hide behind their hats.
* Kissing bridge scammer guy.
* Bloody knuckles (black & tan – Bare Knuckle Stout & Sam Adams Cherry Wheat) and Bee Stings (Hard Cider & Mead)
* Licking the guy who jumped into our chat (I asked first!)
* Pony hangs out with his relatives
* Monsoon like rain but I also got a sunburn! (WTF?)
* Pub sing!! (Crimson Pirates & Three Pints Shy)
* We were merry!
* I actually got to eat REAL pizza – thank you NY!

Instrument at SOWA Sunday:
* I really was all about practicality at that point – it was hot, I had my pirate parasol in the car and I put it to good use – nice to be able to use my faire prop again!
* “Do you see this building?” No. “How about this one?” No. “Well, where are you?!?!?” I have no idea, umm, somewhere between the famer’s market and lost!
* For once, it was not pick on me day.
* Met a rescued doggie from New Orleans!

Rest of Sunday:
* High stakes darts – I almost won! (so close!!!)
* Bartender that loved my attitude - “I used up my prayer for good weather.” Well, I appreciated that too, so it’s ok that you didn’t pray for me to win at darts!
* Team trivia – what started as a “eh, why not, since we’re here” moment became a “Holy crap we won with only 2 people!” moment. (from 6th place to 1st)
* Freaky moment when it completely channeled another bar – another trivia team – another time - when the host played The Killers…..very surreal.
* And last but not least, Thank you Mother Theresa and Shelton, CT!
* Only one way to celebrate – go back to where it all began - same bartender – fun jokes.

I was very happy that the “C” in CLB stood for Cutie and not any of the other things last night.

Flutter, Flutter, Flutter.....

Whether they are life updates, silly, dirty or debates about a whole variety of things, the day definitely goes by faster when you have fun email exchanges.

Throw in a 20 minute dose of sunshine at 2 am and banter with new friends on Twitter and I feel quite like the social butterfly today!

But since I am not a fan of butterflys (long story), I immediately default to H.I.M. lyrics when I mention that word....

Come on, and show them your love
Rip out the wings of a butterfly
For your soul, my love
Rip out the wings of a butterfly
For your soul

But I digress....Brain Dump!!

Can I bring Pony to the BBQ?
WTF is Pony?
Now I know that you don't FB stalk me. :-(

BDSM = ???
SM = it will always have one meaning......
All by my onesy in the office - fighting the urge to bust out singing "All By Myself"!!
So you do FB stalk me! :-)

Nose job? Is that something kinky?

Guilt, Guilt, Guilt....

Parent guilt....

Family guilt...

Cat guilt…

Near friend guilt…

Far friend guilt…

Kid guilt...

Band guilt...

Close friend guilt…

Not so close friend guilt…

Guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt, guilt......Argh!!

Time Is Fleeting....

The family weekend was like camping but we slept in a house – we checked out touristy things, hung out on the porch with our adult beverages, long talks about life, the fire pit burned for 2 days, we grilled food, we boiled lobster and the finale was fireworks!!!

Two fire comments:

Snap, crackle...I don’t smell bacon...Must be...Fire!!

Burn it! Burn that too! What about this?!?! Yeah, burn it!!

It was great to spend time with them – I'm painfully aware of how fast time is fleeting – we won’t always be together....

“You’re Done”

You notice that noone uses that phrase with adults.

As a kid, you’re told “You’re done” and it’s a reason for your bratty behavior and it’s completely ok - everyone understands that it’s just enough and it’s time for you to go to bed.

As adults, we’re supposed to know the difference. Most of the time we ignore it and just push on through. Whether it’s physical or mental – we may be on overload, we just refuse to admit it.

Can We Still Be Friends?

We cant play this game anymore
But can we still be friends
Things just cant go on like before
But can we still be friends
We had something to learn
Now its time for the wheel to turn
Grains of sand, one by one
Before you know it, all gone

Lets admit we made a mistake
But can we still be friends
Heartbreaks never easy to take
But can we still be friends
Its a strange, sad affair
Sometimes seems like we just dont care
Dont waste time feeling hurt
We've been through hell together

Can we still get together sometime
You know life will still go on and on and on

We awoke from our dream
Things are not always what they seem
Memories linger on
Its like a sweet, sad old song

Corsets, Spankings and Pony!

True to form, when a certain group of people gets together, silliness ensues. We had an import from Belgium to play with as well. Her presence also brought two other friends that we haven’t seen in a while to the mix.

Black Mountain Symphony opened and they were good - not as great as my beloved Instrument (oh, I’m biased, I know).

Instrument brought back “Run Around Sue” from the vaults – I have not heard them play it since their second show ever (my first time seeing them). Both bands took the stage for an extended jam at the end of the night - the high point of the evening!

Couple of amusing sequences from last night:

I needed a quick consult to interpret a text that received. Huddled in the corner with two friends, we were joined by someone who had their own question to be answered. He then utters the phrase "You can't put it there unless you're a friend!" Absolutely hysterical and took the edge off the seriousness of the chat.

Meeting someone who says “You do not get to pull the "weird name" stuff with me!” because their name was unique as well. Turns out they have a Pony connection!

My corset came out play and I got some comments came from people that I did not expect them from – interesting, very, very interesting.

One side note - Maybe I've been spoiled by the new friend hugs, but I refuse to accept crappy one armed hugs – contested a bit vehemently last night, but eh, what can one do – I wanted a decent hug.

Oh.....He's Good....

Maybe there is room for a new friend after all.....

CLB: We've now hung out enough that I can actually hear you saying "tee-hee" when you write it.

ME: I see that as a good thing.

CLB: It most certainly is.

Borrowed Text....

“XX didn’t seem to be the kind of woman who would take kindly to being treated casually, which was just as well, given that he wasn’t exactly the casual kind either. And therein lay the paradox at the heart of his loneliness. If a woman didn’t completely enthrall him, he wasn’t interested.”

Could not have said it better myself…..

I Need a Chauffer!!!

88 year old driver killed a 4 year old in a crosswalk – in front of the kid’s family...This just irks me - I don't care about her "long life steeped in tragedy" - leave the Nazis out of it - she killed a kid!! Vehicular Manslaughter!!!

Oh, and then there’s the NY woman was going the wrong way on the highway – ended up killing everyone involved in her accident except for one kid. She was on drunk and on drugs!! The family is trying to blame it on her being diabetic!!

North vs South....

From http://www.weirdnj.com/

There Is No Dividing Line Between North and South in Weird New Jersey

As if New Jersey always being the butt end of jokes from outsiders wasn't bad enough, we still maintain identity crisises within our state about ourselves and where our north/south boundary lies. But in the land of the weird, does such a dividing line even exist? We all know that a "hoagie" or a "sub" is still a sandwich, and a "brook" or a "creek" is still a stream. Porkroll or Taylor Ham is still identifiable by taste, so why put up such struggles to find that imaginary line of demarcation?

Undeniably New Jersey has a culture all its own that most people who live here will defend until the end. Weird NJ magazine has always maintained that the state as a whole is a very weird, strange, and unique environment that we call home. For the record, if we have to define boundaries with horizontal lines, in the last issue there were 54 stories from above the Raritan River, 17 stories between the Raritan and Toms River, and 45 stories from Toms River to Cape May. The stories may range from a photo to a news item, a letter or a full-fledged expose. We've never received letters from the Central Jersey folks telling us to get weirder in their area, nor have we ever gotten letters asking us to lay off the North Jersey weirdness, but for some reason, the Southern portion of New Jersey always feels like they are cheated out of their weirdness quotient.

So where is the weird dividing line between north and south? Whether you sit on a "stoop" or your front steps, or prefer your local cryptozoological creatures to have big red eyes or cloven hoofs, we don't think there is one, and we've never made any comparisons north, south, east or west. The"Weird Eye" knows of no boundaries when it comes to covering all 8,729 miles of the state. We know the north and south have many cultural differences and opinions of each other, but that should be addressed elsewhere, in someone else's magazine. We'll have no part of it.
