MIA Pony...

He has been missing in action for a while....well, Pony was on sabbatical in Newport, RI!

Pony in front of the Jamestown Bridge on Route 138. Not as exciting as the Newport Bridge, but Pony was being responsible and did not want to hold up bridge traffic...lest they think he was a jumper....

Pony at the RI statehouse preparing to protest...ducking behind a light post while the fuzz drove past...

Fair Faire!! (more than fair actually!)

Ah, the NY Ren Faire....a yearly tradition!

It still amazes me how many band geeks end up at the faire. Like a natural migration!

We had a bunch of people and a few that had never been to the faire! I NEEDED a fun time & my friends did not disappoint.

A few of the high points:

“Yeti Feet” (FiveFingers) were used to cut the bar line.

Booby roses for all!

Feather envy was overcome.

Wacky Chickens were worth the trouble finding the stage.

Beards were referred to as scrub brushes.

We heckled at the Kissing Bridge.

And on the way out – frozen chocolate covered bananas and the stocks….that combination proved that we still had enough energy to roar with laughter after a LONG day in the hot sun!

Any guesses as to what this says?? (pouches....really....)

TOGOTORI!!

There was fun!!

There were brownies!!

There was Pony!!

There was kayaking!!

I can continue to keep writing like this but it will get annoying!!

A very fun Memorial Day weekend - including all the exclamation points listed above as well as Lil Jon impersonations, cumin that can neutralize nuts (the spice....sheesh...pervs), surving in the car with me (TGP had me count kayaks), three osprey, a custom adjusted lifejacket, Swine Sweat Estates gooseberry wine, Five Fingers.....And one last exclamation.....there was.....

The Firepit!!!

And if you want to see this trip from TGP's more artistic perspective....check it out here!

Cruise!

One day I will go on that cruise....it killed me to say no.....I just can't do it now.....it would have been an absolute blast with the original group of people that had planned on going....

The whole idea had taken on a life of it's own....

We could do the Titanic bow shot with Pony and sing "My Heart Will Go On"!

March up the gang plank flying the Pirate flag!

Make other travelers walk the plank!

Use the balcony for misdeeds and shenanigans!

Singing any song from "Anything Goes" and start rumors that there are gangsters on board!

And the potential for NUMEROUS swizzle jokes!!!

Feelin' Alright?!?!

I know that some of you are waiting with baited breath to see what I write (Hello Avon, CT!)....

I took a mini road trip Friday and as always, it generated a mass of laughs in a very short time period. The joke timetable may have been accelerated due to the fact that I was given coffee AND cotton candy after I arrived…BTW, you can use the cotton candy holder as a unicorn horn…

After a yummy dinner of scallop scampi (thanks Stellen!), we headed to the Instrument show. They played well – the other band just had many more (and way louder) fans….it was good to see them perform even though the music has changed…..could not resist bouncing a bit to “I Still Love You” despite an injured foot…

There are a few things about the evening that I will leave un-blogged (Avon, CT – all the good stuff is written down in my journals).

One tidbit for aspiring musicians…..having the entire band wear black clothing against a black stage backing is not really the best wardrobe choice...especially the drummer since he is the closest to the backdrop…..they all blend right in…...

The next day was a planned hike – unfortunately a combo of excitement and loggers with chainsaws set us off on the wrong trail. After consulting the trusty GPS, we had a “Oh look a trail blaze!” moment…..turned out to be a very well marked property. Bushwacking for an hour will aggravate any foot injury, so we packed it in and I headed home.

Funny enough, I still got a prize for taking the trip - A new-to-me mountain bike!! (Thank you!!) There will be an expansion of the nature adventures…I will be able to ride past snakes and not have to worry about them getting too close!

The good vibe continued for the rest of the weekend – nice dinner on Saturday and Sunday was just a rainy snuggly day (even included Pony while we watched a few movies)….a girl could not ask for more….

Snip, Snip, Stick....

This past weekend involved a quest for a car mirror after the garage doorway reminded me who is in charge, three adorable weenie dogs and a bunch of fresh air. When greeted with a monsoon on Monday, I decided to hunker down and be a bit creative....

Instrument and Pony got their own pages.....I also scrapped the big events of the first part of 2009 - VT ski trip, TGHH, East Side Restaurant, Virginia....and even Delavegas ......it was done very...umm...tastefully....

Time Is Fleeting....

The family weekend was like camping but we slept in a house – we checked out touristy things, hung out on the porch with our adult beverages, long talks about life, the fire pit burned for 2 days, we grilled food, we boiled lobster and the finale was fireworks!!!

Two fire comments:

Snap, crackle...I don’t smell bacon...Must be...Fire!!

Burn it! Burn that too! What about this?!?! Yeah, burn it!!

It was great to spend time with them – I'm painfully aware of how fast time is fleeting – we won’t always be together....

Corsets, Spankings and Pony!

True to form, when a certain group of people gets together, silliness ensues. We had an import from Belgium to play with as well. Her presence also brought two other friends that we haven’t seen in a while to the mix.

Black Mountain Symphony opened and they were good - not as great as my beloved Instrument (oh, I’m biased, I know).

Instrument brought back “Run Around Sue” from the vaults – I have not heard them play it since their second show ever (my first time seeing them). Both bands took the stage for an extended jam at the end of the night - the high point of the evening!

Couple of amusing sequences from last night:

I needed a quick consult to interpret a text that received. Huddled in the corner with two friends, we were joined by someone who had their own question to be answered. He then utters the phrase "You can't put it there unless you're a friend!" Absolutely hysterical and took the edge off the seriousness of the chat.

Meeting someone who says “You do not get to pull the "weird name" stuff with me!” because their name was unique as well. Turns out they have a Pony connection!

My corset came out play and I got some comments came from people that I did not expect them from – interesting, very, very interesting.

One side note - Maybe I've been spoiled by the new friend hugs, but I refuse to accept crappy one armed hugs – contested a bit vehemently last night, but eh, what can one do – I wanted a decent hug.

Answers....

So, what did I end up doing?

I did “All Of The Above” in my “What To Do?” list.

I did nothing - just vegged on the couch and just relaxed.

I read in the sunshine on the balcony.

I scrapbooked a bit – I mean, ordered pictures so I can scrapbook certain events – it still counts!

Used bookstore - even though they have changed the way that they operate – you no longer dig through the unsorted books (that was part of the charm) to find what you want and pay only $1 per book.

Hammond Castle – gorgeous - I took a bunch of pictures of the exterior – I will be back to take the full tour!!

All Crazy – their music is very different from my beloved Instrument. I danced, I hung out with the band,. I enjoyed the shout outs.....“Uncle Sam!!”....“Freedom!!”....“F*%k Britain!!” And Soup found out that I can always tie the chat back to the band....“Y’all are crazy.” "That’s why we came to see you, get it, get it!!!"

IKEA – spent some time wandering the store, getting ideas, having some lingonberries and photographing Pony!

And best of all - I spent time with friends. Some of it was live and in person and some was on the phone.

Pony!

Ok, so you don’t get it, it's ok, I'll share.

Pony is like the “Flat Stanley” of my group. It started with my innocent reply of “A pony?” when asked if someone could get my anything else. And then I started using it all the time.

One friend threatened to get me a My Little Pony so that I would have one. Heck, my friend’s daughter has a shirt that says “When I get older, I will demand a pony”. Nope, I had nothing to do with that, he picked it out for her and then had to immediately call me to tell me. "Pony" was used as a code word to hide booze at a wedding after party. "Pony" was also shouted to distract a groom so he would not see the bride until the right time.

And then came the first Vermont trip - the Pony that you see in pictures showed up. So now we just trade him - especially if you are going somewhere fun. Pony is a bit peeved about not going to Hawaii, but he’ll get over it.

Heck, he even has his own FB group.

As for me, when asked if when asked if they can get me anything else, I ask for a Jaguar (the car, not the animal), the Cabana Boy, an appletini, Edward Cullen, a bright and shiny object or whatever strikes me at the moment....

Pony Goes to Shoprite....

I had Pony with me and he bonded with E & C during the course of the weekend.

When I ran errands with M-O-M and C was on "First Naps", Pony hung out with E - apparently there are pictures too - I'm wondering if I should be concerned...

And then Pony joined me and C for the Shoprite trek (we needed materials for Baa & Oink). He was almost Pony-napped by a little girl - some bright and shiny objects distracted her though. Phew!
