“I Need An Adult”...

Yesterday, I met up with a friend that was in town for a few hours due to a pit stop in her travel schedule. We had a blast – chatting over lunch and bringing life into JJ Foley’s at 11:130 am. I was dubbed the “most enthusiastic customer” by the bartender.

We mocked Ohio only to get called out by the Midwesterners in the bar – hey, not our fault that you live in a square state. And I know that I am loud when I talk, but I was mixing my language too so they didn’t get the full extent of the Ohio bashing.

I dropped her back off at South Station, got passed by a block full of zombies chanting “Brains” (interesting but no one would have batted an eye if it was in NYC) and decided to go back to the bar because they had a clean bathroom and I was not ready to leave Boston yet. I usually do not do things like that by myself– it was fun though. The place has an awesome vibe and the bartender’s accent helped too. “I need a shot like I need less hair, Darling.”

Fast forward a few hours – I have made new friends (all named Brian), tied 8 games of “Rock, Paper, Scissors”, handed out “Make A Girl Feel Special” tips, had many, many Hoegaardens and have actually used my real name during introductions. Oh, throw in some Shenanigans and you have a complete picture.

I’m just going to blame the haircut – it definitely brings out my mischievous side. But being told over and over again that I’m “cute and adorable” will do the same thing.

I’m thinking that there will be no more hanging out in bars with multiple Brians unless I have a chaperone – to quote Family Guy “I need an adult”.

Hope - 1 year later...

It's been a year since you arrived...you rocked so many worlds....you proved what I knew in my soul to be true......yet it is also the reason that I was upset.....

We will meet one day.....

Double Huggles….

And then some. And then some more. And I know that it doesn’t fix or change things.

The newest addition to the pack of kids decided not to join us. Oh little one, you will be another angel to keep watch over us.

Please go here and leave her and her family some love.

Honest Scrap...

“It’s a Major Award!” - I had to keep her title – it’s funny. Thank you to BeeOhVee!

The rules for this award are as follows:
1.) List 10 honest things about yourself
2) Pass it on to 7 cool people who embody the spirit of the Honest Scrap

So here's some Honesty from me...

1.) I have to make sure that all my garbage cans are empty when I have visitors coming over.

2.) I used to count stairs as I walked up or down them – if the number ended in an odd number, I’d have to do a double step to make the number even…..I used to rationalize it by saying that I’m a Libra – I need balance.

3.) I overpack – mainly shoes – especially when the trip involves driving somewhere (more room for stuff!) – I usually end up wearing a third of the shoes, but still continue to do it. I have received gifts addressed to “The Queen of Overpacking” because of this.

4.) I have learned to control my over-expressive face over the years, but disgust is the one that I really can’t hide.

5.) I fear that my lack of patience with some older people will haunt me/be revisited upon me when I get old.

6.) When I get interested in something, I have to research it up, down, left and sideways until my curiosity is satisfied/I have exhausted all resources. I am left with a brain full of obscure facts that I randomly share.

7.) My favorite F-word really is Frolic, not Free.

8.) I am very well aware that I am emotionally high maintenance – hug me!!

9.) It is easier for me to help others in lieu of dealing with my own pain – helping them actually does help me in it’s own way.

10.) I have a good sense of direction, but have become accustomed to using my GPS as a crutch and get nervous if I don’t have it with me on long trips.

I’m not going to tag anyone else, especially since I know the ones that would do it were already tagged!

Notes to Self…..

Don’t think too much while driving on a gloomy rainy day.

Fix the magic wand – it seems to be broken.

Writing certain blog entries after thinking in the car too long will cause a riot – don’t post it.

Remember the sunscreen – it’s summer and you have pale skin.

Beware of any situation that involves a skanky blonde.

Continue to be cryptic about certain things.

Find a special occasion for that wine bottle that does not have one anymore.

Don’t be so cryptic about others.

Hush Puppies From Heaven…

Sweet Tea Vodka – I love you, I love you, I love you….but I had to get the Bloody Mary Sunday morning – I know you understand.

The rest of Sunday was spent at Tim’s Rivershore Restaurant & Crabhouse – we were tempted to have some “bah-bequeh”, but opted for seafood and buckets of Coronas instead.

Why is my purse full of wine corks?!?!

Life lesson – if you find yourself partying with people that you really don’t know and then are ROPBMAO (rolling on the pier barfing my ass off), make sure that the guy that comes to save you is not just looking to throw away your empty glass!

Oh the humanity – Sally, did you see the others?? What happened???

I just want 1 crab…….or a hush puppy….in my mouth.

“That’s what she said!” was used a few times.

Random announcements - “You’re dragging anchor” and “You’re boat is drifting away!”

Brown chicken brown cow!

Hush puppies from heaven!

And it was cool to see other people in “get out of my head” mode – I did pick up their car chant though – it was used a couple of times on the way home.

I know I said it before, but I’m invited back, right? Miss you guys!!

Manass-ass....

I’m so not ready to be back at work today. I want more time in Virginia – just enjoying the company of fun people! The drive was SO worth it – I miss them – it’s such a fun bunch! And I even got back home in enough time (no real traffic) to relax and unpack – not just walk in, drop everything at the door and fall into bed.

Turns out that I was on the Inner Loop of the Beltway when I thought “All the tight turns at high speeds make me feel like I'm driving in a video game!” The beltway is awesome when there is no traffic – ok, MY side had no traffic – the other direction was at a crawl.
We had a gorgeous day at the La Grange winery with fabulous conversations followed up by taking the party to The Hay.

I made new friends – “You’re so cool, ZzzZZZzzz”. By the next morning I was Z-bot and it shifted to Zebra at one point. Tee-hee.

Manass-ass....You want some Dumbfries with that?

“He was standing there, being all Latvian”

“Oh ja – After Eight dinner mints!!” (I found a wrapper in the backseat of my car Monday morning)

“All our kinky stuff involves dill.”

What’s the past tense of tweet? *snicker* I now have that word in my head every time I tweet.

“I had to lick him – he’s new!” I blame the entire “you have to lick it before you stick it” chat about the GPS suction cup thingie that somebody *cough* Matt *cough* started.

You can’t out rock star Audrey – there is no way – don’t even try!!!

Pony!

Ok, so you don’t get it, it's ok, I'll share.

Pony is like the “Flat Stanley” of my group. It started with my innocent reply of “A pony?” when asked if someone could get my anything else. And then I started using it all the time.

One friend threatened to get me a My Little Pony so that I would have one. Heck, my friend’s daughter has a shirt that says “When I get older, I will demand a pony”. Nope, I had nothing to do with that, he picked it out for her and then had to immediately call me to tell me. "Pony" was used as a code word to hide booze at a wedding after party. "Pony" was also shouted to distract a groom so he would not see the bride until the right time.

And then came the first Vermont trip - the Pony that you see in pictures showed up. So now we just trade him - especially if you are going somewhere fun. Pony is a bit peeved about not going to Hawaii, but he’ll get over it.

Heck, he even has his own FB group.

As for me, when asked if when asked if they can get me anything else, I ask for a Jaguar (the car, not the animal), the Cabana Boy, an appletini, Edward Cullen, a bright and shiny object or whatever strikes me at the moment....

I See You....

Does that stare mean that you want me to quit my job and join you as you travel the world?

Let me think about it.....definitely a yes!

Thank you to the gang at http://www.robsessedpattinson.com/ for today’s man-candy shot!

V for Vendetta...

Imagine my disappointment when I found out that these were not my minions arriving....

Ambassador of Latvian Rock....

I went to camp with this guy's younger brother....they formed Mācītājs on Acid, or “Minister on Acid.” Nifty article! And they are a trip to see live.....

Latvian Invasion - The band would always sing and speak in Latvian onstage, project English translations of their lyrics onto a screen behind them, and dress in crazy costumes like skin-tight silver bodysuits or colored Christmas lights.

Mail, Mail & Mail...

I know that I do not single handedly keep the post office in business, but I like to think that I help. I still send birthday cards, occasional letters and thank you cards.

I just like the concept. You come home from work, open the mailbox and it’s exciting – you never know what you’re going to get! And it adds a personal touch to see a decorated envelope in among the bills and junk mail. (my mailman probably cringes at my tiny mailbox on the days that my samples arrive!)

I’m still trying to find a legit group to send my expired coupons to that will forward them to the troops stationed overseas. Cool thing is that since a base is still considered to be US soil, the only service to use would be the postal system!

Swag, Swag, Swag....

Since I am obviously in Deal/Freebie mode today (ok, that’s every day), I have to share about Swagbucks too.

Easiest explanation - you win stuff when you use their site to do an internet search.

The results are powered by Google and Ask. All the "Deal Moms" are using it/recommend it, so I figured that it would be worth checking out. I always wait a while before sharing stuff with my friends – I have to take it for a test drive/kick the tires myself!!

I started about 3 weeks ago and have earned 81 Swagbucks so far. I'll be cashing in for some Amazon gift cards! Check out the store here - http://www.swagbucks.com/?cmd=sb-home

So, if you want to try it out – here’s my referral link – http://swagbucks.com/refer/DizzyVizzy
- you will get some Swagbucks just for signing up!!

New Deo from Dove!!

Sorry boys – it’s “Girl Talk” time – no, not the band – stop reading unless you are very interested in deodorant!!

Just us girls?

If you are a guy and are still reading, it’s ok...you can stay...

So, I’m feeling all cool – I got to try out the newest Dove deodorant – Ultimate Visibly Smooth!!

It smells lovely (Wild Rose) and even better, it minimizes the look and feel of underarm hair over time! w00t! I’ve been using it about a week and a half and it is now going to be a permanent part of my daily beauty regimen!

So, it’s a 24 hour anti-perspirant and it leaves you stubble free longer. Hmm…what’s not to like? Bonus – it does not leave white marks!

http://www.dove.us/visiblysmooth

They have a Facebook page and are doing a giveaway (picture on the left) a week –

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dove-Visibly-Smooth/58040884511?v=wall&viewas=0

I have great coupons so that you can get your own! Just email me your name and mailing address at dizzyvizzy at hotmail.com if you want me to send you one.

Just wanted to mention it again - Dove provided a complimentary sample and coupons for me to share. Yay for Dove letting me try new things and letting me share with my friends!!

"Life After People"

Tivo found a new show for me last night – the History Channel's “Life After People" - I started watching it and found myself enthralled for hours.

It shows what would happen to the planet after all the people were gone - how rampant the wildfires would be in California, how quickly Washington DC would revert back to being marshland, what happens to the bodies that are cryogenically frozen, how long it takes nature to take over, etc.

http://www.history.com/minisites/life_after_people

Even though the narrator constantly saying "One day after people", "One week after people", "Five years after people" and so on, does get a bit annoying, I recommend that you check it out!

H1N1 & Twilight....

Just goes to show that everything ties back to Twilight.....

Back in 1918, the H1N1 virus strain had another name - the Spanish Influenza.

Yup, the very same illness Edward Cullen was dying of when Carlisle found him and turned him into a vampire.

http://twilightnovelnovice.com/2009/05/04/remembering-the-1918-spanish-influenza/

Canadia?

Internal line - *ring* *ring*
Me – “Yes?”
Foreman – “Hey, is Canada part of the European Union?”
Me – “Umm, last time I checked it was directly to the north of the USA, so that’s a no.”
Foreman – “Are you sure?”
Me – “Canada has not moved and it is definitely not part of Europe.”
Foreman – “Oh, ok, Bye!” *click*
Me - *bangs head on desk repeatedly*
Boss – “At least he called to ask before spending money on the wrong supplies.”

Neglected Landmarks....

I have a weak spot for grandiose decaying architecture – as in "I have to stop and photograph it" weak spot.

On my way back from yesterday’s graduation, I passed by the former site of
Danvers Insane Asylum.

When I first moved up here, I had heard about it but had not done my research. It became an unplanned stop on a road trip a few years ago – “Wait a minute – what’s that up on the hill?!?!?! OMG – STOP THE CAR!!!” All that was left at the time was the façade, but it still gave me chills. The pictures did not do it justice – it’s the oldest example of gothic architecture. The developer kept the facade and built condos behind it and then there was a “mysterious fire” that destroyed what was left.

Same thing with the
Mary Murray ferry – I made a wrong turn on the way to Delaware and it gave me one last chance to look – it’s being disassembled. But it also gave me the opportunity to share the ferry's story.

And on my way to the most recent Instrument show, I stopped to take pictures of a factory. Beautiful but decaying.

If only I could get onto Bannerman Island!! (they suspended the hard hat tours)
